Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist (or PTA) with at least 1 year of experience for an outpatient/inpatient position at a rural Critical Access Hospital.
Details
- Critical Access Hospital setting with outpatient, inpatient, home visit, and swing bed program components in a rural community
- Work across Acute Care, Outpatient Clinic, Rehabilitation Hospital, and Skilled Nursing Facility settings
- Patient population includes orthopedic conditions (cervicalgia, low back pain, post-op cervical/shoulder/spinal surgery, spinal conditions, total hip/knee replacement), neurologic conditions (cognitive disorders, MS, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson's disease, post-stroke rehab, spinal cord injury, TBI), geriatrics, orthopedics, and cardiopulmonary/circulatory cases
- Utilizes modalities including TENS, ultrasound, cryotherapy, and moist heat
- Performs wound/ulcer assessment and management including simple dressing changes
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Day shift options: 4x10 hours (0800-1830) or 5x8 hours (0800-1600)
- Weekend rotation required every 3rd weekend
- No on-call requirement
- No floating to sister facilities required
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- BLS certification required
- First-time travelers accepted only with 2+ years of experience in discipline
- License required if applicable
- Experience with assessment skills including body mechanics, AROM/AAROM/PROM, pain assessment, strength testing, and vital sign monitoring
- Skilled in home exercise program development and patient/family education
- Proficient in documentation including evaluations, discharge planning, plan of care, reassessments, and long/short term goals
- Experience with equipment such as bed alarms, call lights, hospital/specialty beds, and gait belts
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include evaluating, planning, and implementing individualized treatment programs to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore independence
- Collaborates with providers and care teams across acute, outpatient, and long-term care settings
- Local candidates accepted
- No RTO restrictions
- Guaranteed hours apply once call-off policy requirements have been met
- Facility may accommodate block scheduling
- Travel pairs accepted and can work the same shift
