Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring 2 years of recent ICU experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and a MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
- ICU setting covering Medical and Surgical Intensive Care patients
- Patient population includes respiratory failure/ARDS, cardiac arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis
- Unit cares for pre/post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgery patients, medicine and neuro-medicine overflow, and pre/post-transplant and end-of-life/organ donation cases
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within service line to other ICU units
- Utilizes IV pumps/titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilators/BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart equipment
- Charting is done in Epic
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required (no issuance if tied to another compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Preferred certifications: CPI and TNCC
- Epic charting experience required
- Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred
- Travel experience required
- Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care/management, starting and maintaining IVs, care of ventilated patients, interpretation of ABGs, suctioning (ETT, NT), ventilator management, CVA/acute stroke management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, administration of emergency medications, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, CVP and PA line/Swan-Ganz monitoring, chronic/acute renal failure management, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE use, phlebotomy, and surgical wound/drain and wound vac care
- Preferred charge RN experience
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to a complex ICU patient population including cardiac, thoracic, abdominal surgery, transplant, and end-of-life/organ donation cases
- May be assigned charge RN duties and holiday shifts as needed per unit
- Navy scrubs required
- Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the travel assignment
- No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
- Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
- Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved with no exceptions
