Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position specializing in cardiac care, requiring prior travel experience and a TX or compact RN license.
Details
- Work on 5 North, a 36 private-room Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Patient population ranges from young adults to geriatric patients
- Priority admissions include patients requiring medical cardiac care and recovery from cardiac interventions such as cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implant
- Also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submittal
- Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required, ACLS also required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization, pre/post cardiac surgery, post cardiac angiogram, post MI care, and sheath removal
- Experience with respiratory care including oxygen administration, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols
- Experience managing vasoactive drips (no titration) and PCA
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with renal failure and hemodialysis management preferred
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry and cardiac nursing care to patients recovering from cardiac interventions and procedures
- Monitor for and respond to cardiac dysrhythmias and utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
- Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Former staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
