Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of NICU and/or PICU experience for a day shift position at a Level I trauma children's acute care teaching hospital.
Details
- Children's acute care teaching hospital setting with 400 staffed beds
- Level I trauma facility
- Works within the Respiratory Care/RRT unit
- Pediatric and neonatal patient population including NICU and PICU
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- No floating outside of scope required
- EPIC charting system used
Requirements
- as Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
- BLS certification required
- NRP and PALS certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist required
- NICU and/or PICU experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Experience with ventilator management including CPAP, BiPAP, and high frequency oscillator preferred
- Experience with neonatal/pediatric airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
- Experience with medication delivery systems and administration for pediatric respiratory conditions
- First-time travelers accepted
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care services to pediatric and neonatal patients including those in the NICU, PICU, and Emergency Department
- Perform airway management procedures including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
- Administer medications and oxygen therapy including high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- Manage mechanical ventilation and troubleshoot high pressure alarms
- Scrub attire may be any color or St. Louis Children's Hospital branded t-shirts/jackets
- Maximum of 2 RTO requests permitted during contract
- No RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
- Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period with a required 3-month break in service afterward
- Permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
