Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Dept position requiring 2 years of ER experience and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

Details

• Work in a 15-bed emergency unit within a critical access hospital
• General ED setting with combined adult and pediatric patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:00-6:30)
• Cerner charting system used
• Floating required to other units within the hospital or nearby affiliate hospitals

Requirements

• Active RN license (IN or Compact) required, must be in hand prior to start date
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS required; TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy, including blood product administration, central line care, and starting IVs
• Experience administering continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
• Experience caring for CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) patients
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and triage
• Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• 2 supervisor references required

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population
• Manage cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and medication administration including sedation and vasopressors
• Care for patients experiencing CVA and other neurological emergencies
• Practice isolation precautions and patient triage
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates residing in Indiana are not accepted for this position
• Any previous perm or PRN employee of the health system must be away for 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment within the health system must take a designated break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
