Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring active MA licensure, Trauma Level I experience, and prior scrub experience across multiple surgical specialties.
Details
- Work in the Operating Room department of a hospital setting
- Perform both circulating and scrubbing duties across specialty areas including transplant, liver and kidney, endoscopic, vascular, vascular emergencies, neuro, trauma, general surgery, pediatric, and microsurgery
- Trauma cases may include MVAs, gunshot wounds, stabbings, and other emergent injuries
- Day shift schedule consisting of 4x10 hour shifts from 11:00 to 23:30
- Alternate shift pattern includes two 12-hour shifts (11a-11p) and two 8-hour shifts (3p-11p)
- Call rotation required, consisting of one night every third weekend
- Epic charting system preferred experience
- Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations; must be able to work all 7 days as needed
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required in hand prior to consideration
- Current BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
- Trauma Level I experience required; Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Prior scrub experience required for consideration
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Must be able to pass a pass/fail medication exam during in-person orientation with only one attempt allowed
- Must be able to pass a pass/fail EKG/Tele test during orientation with a passing score of 80% and only one attempt allowed
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care through circulating and scrubbing responsibilities across a wide range of surgical specialties
- Study materials will be provided ahead of the required medication and EKG/Tele competency exams
- Failure to pass either the medication exam or EKG/Tele exam will result in immediate cancellation of the contract
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 75-mile radius for Surgical Techs and Miscellaneous Techs, and 200 miles for RNs
- Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system prior to reapplying
- Candidates with prior discipline on their nursing license cannot be considered
- Up to 14 days of requested time off may be submitted for review, though no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
