Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 14-week day shift assignment requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and GA or Compact RN licensure.

Details

• Hospital-based ICU unit with 24 rooms and average daily census of 19
• Patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics with diagnoses including ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, and ESRD on CRRT
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3, with travelers prepared to take a 3rd patient as needed
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required unless specified otherwise
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Uses Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR unit systems
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Travel pairs not permitted on the same shift within the same unit

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS prior to start
• TNCC certification preferred
• Experience with care of ventilated patients, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and suctioning (ETT, NT)
• IV therapy and central line care/management experience required
• CVA/acute stroke management experience required
• Post neurosurgery management experience preferred
• CVVHD/CRRT experience preferred
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Post cardiac surgery care experience preferred (not directly from OR)
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex ICU patients with a wide range of diagnoses
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized at time of consideration
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day)
• If 1-2 major holidays occur during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested
• If 3 major holidays occur during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Candidates must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler
• Shift and contract length are firm with no schedule requests or alternate shift accommodations
• Candidates will undergo a clinical screen to determine fit before manager review
