Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry/IMC position requiring 2+ years of cardiac tele experience and OR RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the Cardiac IMC unit of a Magnet, teaching, Level I Trauma Center hospital
- Patient population includes Cardiology (ACS, NSTEMI, HF management, pre/post cath care, arrhythmia management), EPS (pacemaker placement, arrhythmia management), Cardiac Surgery (CABG, valve replacement, TAVR), Vascular Surgery (amputations, fem-pop bypass), and Advanced Heart Failure (pre/post transplant, VAD, inotrope support)
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Uses Epic charting system
- Utilizes Safe Patient Mobilization equipment (ceiling lifts) in most patient rooms
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per month
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within Acute Care/IMC scope, including to nearby affiliate hospitals per unit needs
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oregon or Compact) required; pending license applications accepted if submitted to the licensing board
- OR RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA required, RQI not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Telemetry experience required
- Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Prior travel experience required
- Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care/management, starting and maintaining IVs
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) required
- Experience with sheath removal and TR band required
- TAVR experience required
- Preferred certifications: BSN, NIHSS, PCCN
- Comprehensive work history covering the last seven years, including city, state, dates, and employment gaps, is required
- Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (charge RN references not accepted)
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to complex cardiac, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and advanced heart failure patients, including remote telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- Utilize rapid response/code teams and manage IV insulin protocols as needed
- Scrubs of any color accepted (no prints); scrubs are provided
- First-time travelers are accepted, though candidates with Epic experience are strongly preferred
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
- Former OHSU employees or previous travelers must have a completed reference with their prior OHSU manager
- Returning staff must have a gap of 6+ months since their last assignment to be eligible
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront and are limited to a maximum of 5 days for a 13-week assignment or 7 days for an 18-week assignment; approved time beyond 5 days must be added to the end of the contract
- COVID-19 vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted
- Background checks are comprehensive and lifetime in scope; no background or license issues will be accepted
- Relias competency exams require a minimum score of 85%
