Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ED experience, 1 year of travel experience, and an active OH or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Oncology Pod of a hospital Emergency Department
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- 13-week assignment
- Floating required
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Minimum of 1 year of travel nursing experience required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
- Proficient in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN (no coworker references)
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care within an oncology-focused ED pod, including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and triage
- Skilled care may include respiratory support, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, central line care, and administration of blood products and IV vasopressors
- Pediatric care and management of conditions such as sickle cell crisis may be required
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract; those far from Ohio will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
- RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 consecutive days or less
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as a traveler

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
