Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 3+ years of experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• , unemetry unit within an acute care hospital setting
• 24-bed unit with a 6:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
• Common diagnoses include CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD, and med/surg telemetry cases
• Unit utilizes a VIC (virtual integrated care) nursing model
• PCTs present on the unit at a 12:1 ratio
• Charge nurses, house supervisors, and nurse educators available for support
• Patients may require CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow respiratory equipment
• Tele monitor techs monitor patients, but RNs must be able to read strips
• Uses Paragon EMR charting system
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts from 6:30pm to 7am
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating required to all med/surg units
• Scheduling is set by the manager; block scheduling is not available

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• Strong communication and time management skills required
• Must be able to read telemetry strips
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to med/surg telemetry patients including monitoring, medication administration, and care coordination
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Unit and department-specific orientation provided upon hire
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
