Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 3 years of experience and a TX or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care Med/Tele unit (K5) within a virtual integrated care (VIC) nursing model
- 24-bed unit with a 6:1 patient to nurse ratio
- Common diagnoses include CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD, and general med/surg telemetry cases
- Patients on CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapy
- PCTs present on the unit at a 12:1 ratio, with Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators available for support
- Tele monitor techs monitor patients, but RNs must be able to read telemetry strips
- Uses Paragon EMR charting system
- 12-hour day shifts scheduled 6:30a-7p
- Every other weekend and required holiday coverage
- Floating required to all med/surg units
- Scheduling is set by management; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
Requirements
- Active TX or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- BLS certification required
- BSN not required for this position
- Strong communication and time management skills required
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Deliver med/surg telemetry nursing care within a virtual integrated care nursing model
- Department orientation is completed for the Kurth Tower, which houses all med/surg tele units
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Holiday coverage is required for assigned holidays
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year are not eligible
