Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVICU RN for a 13-week assignment requiring a CA RN license, 2+ years of concurrent CVICU experience, and prior travel experience.

Details

  • Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting within a community hospital
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Weekend requirement of 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week cycle
  • At least one holiday shift required, including the holiday weekend
  • Block scheduling of Friday/Saturday/Sunday available if desired
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • May be required to float to like or lower acuity units across the health system's 5 San Diego hospitals, excluding the ED
  • Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
  • NIHSS certification required
  • CRRT, LVAD, and TNCC certifications preferred
  • 2+ years of CVICU-specific experience, with experience in a CVICU within the last year
  • 1.5 years of continuous experience in specialty without breaks (unless floating or demonstrating equivalent experience with matching ratios)
  • Travel experience required, including 1 year total travel experience and 6+ months of continuous travel experience leading up to consideration
  • Epic or combined Epic/Cerner experience within the last 6 months
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, and cardiac drip titration
  • Experience with post cardiac surgery care, IABP, and cardiac monitoring required
  • 1 supervisory-level professional reference required
  • Valid copies of all required certifications, including AHA-issued certs, required for consideration
  • No pending or expired certifications or license verifications accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity cardiovascular ICU setting
  • Responsibilities include management of ventilated patients, arterial line care, and titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
  • Support for patients undergoing cardiac procedures such as CABG, TAVR, and valve repair/replacement
  • No first-time travelers considered for this position
  • Returning staff and travelers may reapply after a 1-year waiting period
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days, with no additional requests after consideration
  • Candidates must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to be eligible, except for LVNs/LPNs
  • Candidates who have been on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months are considered local and are not eligible
  • International travelers must have 1 year of recent or current U.S. work experience
