Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 5+ years of experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Operating Room department with 19 suites, 17 of which are actively in use
- Level 3 Trauma facility with Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center designations
- Unit holds Bariatric Center of Excellence and Advanced Spine Surgery Certification designations
- Average of 50 surgical cases per day
- Surgical specialties include trauma, ortho trauma, ortho total joints, spine, hearts, MI vascular, GYN, GYN-Oncology, robotics, general, HPB, bariatrics, urology, ENT, eyes, pain, and plastics
- 12-hour night shift schedule, 7p-7a, working 36 hours per week
- Required to work every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Weekend rotation of every 4th weekend, which may include a scheduled shift or call coverage
- Call requirement averages 6 shifts per 6-week schedule with a 45-minute response time
- Call shifts occur 11p-7a or 7a-7p/7p-7a on weekends
- No floating required
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- CNOR certification preferred but not required
- Minimum of 5 years of OR nursing experience required
- Charge RN experience and scrubbing proficiency required for this night shift contract
- Experience circulating cases across trauma, ortho trauma, ortho total joints, spine, hearts, MI vascular, GYN, GYN-Oncology, robotics, general, HPB, bariatrics, urology, ENT, eyes, pain, and plastics preferred
- Experience with laparoscopic and open belly cases, ortho trauma, cysto, vascular, and robotics is a plus
- Epic EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Circulate and support a wide range of surgical specialties within a high-volume, high-acuity OR environment
- Must be flexible, self-driven, and a motivated team player able to accommodate case requests during night shift
- Supported by Service Line Clinical Supervisors, Charge Nurses, Educators, ORAs, Unit Secretaries, and Tech Engineers
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Free parking available
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- Time off requests require manager approval
- Schedule operates on a 6-week cycle
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before being eligible to return as a traveler
