Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring an active OH or compact RN license and night shift availability.

Details

  • Work in a Stepdown/PCU mixed-acuity unit within a hospital setting
  • Care for adult and geriatric patients with general chronic medical conditions
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
  • Floating required within the OSU organization
  • Call required
  • Uses Epic documentation system
  • Medication administration via Pyxis, Accudose, and Omnicell systems
  • SBAR communication protocol utilized
  • In-house provider support available 24/7

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
  • Progressive care, Stepdown, or PCU experience preferred
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring and emergency response
  • Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Familiarity with Rapid Response/Code team protocols
  • Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
  • IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management skills
  • Respiratory care skills including nasal cannula and oxygen administration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a progressive/stepdown care unit
  • Utilize cardiac monitoring equipment and respond to emergency situations as needed
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager, Director, or Supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract prior to submission, limited to 7 days or less
  • Ohio fingerprinting is required promptly after signing the contract to meet compliance deadlines
