Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Outpatient Infusion position requiring NJ or Compact licensure and Chemo certification for oncology patient care.
Details
- Outpatient clinic setting within an infusion/oncology center
- Patient ratios of 1:6-7
- Day shift schedule of 4x10-hour shifts (7:00 AM-5:30 PM)
- Required to work 1 Saturday per month, with no Sunday shifts
- Floating required between the cancer center and main campus for appropriate assignments
- Uses Epic charting system
- Any scrub color accepted
Requirements
- Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
- BLS certification required
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Outpatient Infusion or Oncology (Chemo Certified) required
- Experience administering chemotherapy via IV push, continuous infusion, and oral routes
- Skilled in biotherapy and immunotherapy administration
- Experience monitoring and managing chemotherapy-related symptoms including nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, edema, and altered mental status
- Central line care and blood draw experience required
- Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
- Phlebotomy skills preferred
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, monitoring patients for treatment-related symptoms, and providing patient/family education and psychosocial support
- Provide symptom management for conditions such as dysphagia, constipation/diarrhea, and skin/mucous membrane alterations
- Support discussions around withholding or withdrawing treatment as part of oncology care
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
- Previous RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for this travel assignment
- Must be available to work 2 of 3 designated holidays
