Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of critical care experience and Cerner charting skills for a community hospital day shift position requiring float coverage across multiple units.

Details

• Community-based hospital setting requiring float coverage between high-risk deliveries, NICU II, Adult acute care, and ER
• Rotates through Emergency Department, Adult ICU, Adult Med Surg, and Adult Progressive Care Unit
• Full-service community ED includes some pediatric care as applicable
• Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holidays, as determined by leadership
• Cerner EMR experience required
• 100% floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals

Requirements

• Current RRT certification
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Experience in Adult Critical Care, Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, NICU, and Pediatrics preferred
• Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Experience with oxygen therapy including high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Neonatal/Pediatric experience including high-risk delivery assistance and CPAP/BiPAP preferred
• Experience with oscillating ventilators and umbilical blood gases preferred
• Cerner charting experience required
• License required if applicable
• Two supervisor references required
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

• Best fit for candidates with Adult and Labor & Delivery experience given the floating requirements across high-acuity units
• Provides respiratory care and airway management across adult, pediatric, and neonatal patient populations as needed
• Works as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting critical care, emergency, and acute care units
• Local IN residents are considered local candidates, though local acceptance rules vary by position type
• RTO requests of 5 days or less can be auto-approved, with longer requests requiring facility approval
• Candidates must work 2 of 3 major holidays as designated by facility leadership
• Any previous PERM or PRN employee of the health system must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
• Current or past travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment within the health system are required to take a designated break to reset eligibility
