Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a cardiac stepdown PCU position requiring cardiovascular experience and a NM or compact RN license.
Details
- Cardiac stepdown unit (PCU) located within a dedicated Heart Hospital
- 55-bed unit with a significant cardiac patient population
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (18:30-07:00)
- Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Weekend coverage required as needed on a rotating basis
- Floating required to like units within scope as needed, with brief unit orientation provided
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis
- Epic charting system experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) required, pending license accepted if obtained prior to start
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- CPI certification preferred
- Minimum 1-2 years of RN experience required, with cardiovascular experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry (on-unit and remote)
- Experience with cardiac drip management (titration preferred)
- Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization and pre/post cardiac surgery care preferred
- Experience with sheath removal preferred
- Experience with central line and PICC line care/management preferred
- Experience with respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula preferred
- Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
- Experience with wound care/wound vac preferred
- Experience with IV insulin protocols preferred
- Experience with procedural sedation administration/monitoring preferred
- Experience with blood product administration preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for a cardiac and cardiovascular patient population within a cardiac stepdown/PCU setting
- Manage cardiac monitoring and respond to cardiac emergencies including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and line care including central, peripheral, and PICC lines
- Administer medications per heparin and insulin protocols and manage cardiac drips
- Provide isolation precautions and PPE compliance as needed
- Scrub color is open (any color, no logos)
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates within this radius are not accepted
- Previous staff members must wait one year after leaving permanent employment before returning as a traveler
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
