Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring 2 years of experience and WV or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in an acute care PCU/Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Unit consists of two floors with a total of 42 beds, ranging from all private rooms to a mix of private and semi-private rooms
- Patient population includes elevated troponin, active chest pain, pre/post cardiac catheterization, post-STEMI, NSTEMI, peritoneal dialysis, pacers, and occasional post-surgical or oncology overflow patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 for both day and night shifts
- Uses Phillips Cardiac Monitors with a central monitoring station, supported by monitor techs
- Utilizes EPIC EMR system
- Administers drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Labetolol, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Heparin, and Integrilin per protocol, as well as Nitro and set-rate drips
- Supports patients on Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow ventilation managed by Respiratory Therapy
- Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts per week, 7:00am-7:30pm
- Open to 48-hour/week contract requests
- Every-other-weekend requirement (Saturday/Sunday for days)
- Rotating holiday coverage based on unit needs
- Floating is rare, but if required would be to overflow Tele or Ortho/MedSurg units
- Hospitalist, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy are in-house 24/7
- No dedicated IV team on the unit
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Telemetry strip reading and documentation skills required, including reviewing and charting rhythms every 4 hours
- Must provide an unexpired copy of driver's license for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in a Telemetry acuity unit, including monitoring cardiac drips and reviewing telemetry strips every 4 hours
- Opportunities for precepting available on this unit
- Floor-specific orientation is 1-2 shifts depending on experience level
- Scrub color requirement is navy blue with a navy or white jacket and navy or white undershirt
- Hair must be a natural color with no pink, purple, or blue; tattoos deemed distasteful must be covered
- COVID vaccination is required, with medical or religious exemption forms available upon request
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be eligible for consideration
- Previous permanent employees must have been separated for at least 2 years before reapplying
- Previous travelers who completed a full year at this facility must take a 2-year break before returning
- Travelers are not permitted to work within the WVU system for longer than 1 year cumulatively without taking a 2-year break
- EKG competency testing is required for this unit
