Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring 2 years of ICU experience with a strong neuro background and MO or Compact RN licensure in hand.

Details

  • Work in a 30-bed Neurosurgical ICU (NSICU) setting
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
  • Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
  • Mandatory floating to PCU, MS, or other ICU units as needed
  • May be required to float as a Patient Observer (Sitter) as part of floating requirements
  • Cerner charting system preferred but not required

Requirements

  • Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration (no pending licenses)
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required with a strong Neuro clinical background
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, post neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care preferred
  • Skills in arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, and ABG interpretation preferred
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and vasoactive/cardiac drip titration required
  • Phlebotomy and IV insulin protocol experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Must be able to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to neurosurgical and neurological ICU patients
  • Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year with routine exposure to contagious illnesses
  • 50% holiday coverage required per contract terms
  • Maximum requested time off (RTO) of 10 days
  • Re-orientation not required if returning within 18 months of a previous assignment
  • Local candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, with candidates within 75 miles allowed at a reduced rate
  • Travelers may work up to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts (up to 9 months of consecutive service) before a mandatory 6-month break is required before returning in an agency capacity
  • Non-billable orientation modules averaging 4-6 hours are completed during orientation and annually
