Description
American Traveler is hiring an ECMO Specialist RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2+ years of ECMO Specialist (circuit management) experience and a SC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) at a hospital, specializing in care of ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, IABP, and Impella patients
- Support post cardiac surgery patients directly from the OR, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, TAVR, and heart transplant cases
- Manage patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- 13-week initial assignment length
- Uses Epic EMR
- Floating to other Prisma Health units or campuses required based on census needs, limited to competencies already demonstrated
- Orientation occurs every Monday
Requirements
- Active RN license (SC or compact) currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Preferred certifications: CES-A or E-AEC, and LVAD
- Minimum 2 years of recent ECMO Specialist (circuit management) experience required
- 3+ years of CVICU/ICU experience preferred
- 1+ year of recent experience in the ECMO Specialist unit required
- 1-year minimum experience with Epic EMR required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- RN ECMO Specialists only; Respiratory Therapy or Perfusion ECMO Specialists will not be considered
Additional Information
- Provide specialized nursing care for patients on ECMO, including management of nurse-driven ECMO protocols
- Perform cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Skilled in interpretation of ABGs, management of ventilated patients, and care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction
- Experience with CRRT/CVVHD, blood product administration, and central line management preferred
- Pre-assignment testing and required modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
- Travelers must be located more than 100 miles from any Prisma Health facility to be eligible for full travel rate, with reduced rates available for 90-99.9 miles
- Night shift travelers in select specialties may qualify at 50+ miles from the contracted campus
- Travelers who complete three consecutive 13-week contracts (or 39 weeks) must begin the conversion process to employee status or take a minimum six-month separation before returning as a traveler
