Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum position requiring 2 years of postpartum experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum unit of a hospital environment
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- 13-week assignment length
- May float to other units with similar acuity
- Uses Epic EMR system
Requirements
- Active RN license (Ohio state or Compact) in hand at time of submission
- Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Minimum 2 years of postpartum experience required
- IV start skills and labor & delivery (L&D) experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Skilled in IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, and medication administration including antihypertensives, Pitocin (oxytocin), and Magnesium Sulfate therapy
- Experience with postpartum care procedures including bladder assessment/Foley catheter insertion, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and breastfeeding instruction
- Experience caring for postpartum patients with cesarean section, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Newborn care skills including cord care, newborn assessment, thermoregulation, and phototherapy
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and cardiac monitoring
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role (Charge RN acceptable for second reference); coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive postpartum and couplet care to mothers and newborns, including care for vaginal delivery and cesarean section patients
- Perform newborn care including discharge teaching to parents, metabolic screening, and circumcision care instruction
- Support patients requiring pain management including opioid administration and pain assessment
- Administer vaccines as part of routine care
- Level 1 Nursery experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required, first-time travelers welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Former employees eligible for assignment consideration after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
- RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly upon contract signing to avoid delays
