Description
American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist with CCC-SLP certification and 1+ year of acute care experience for a hospital treating adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting on the SLP unit
- Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with variable diagnoses
- 1:1 staffing ratio with an average daily census of 70
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary support services including Interpretation, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Respiratory, Social Services, Phlebotomy, and Pharmacy
- Day shift schedule, 4x8 hours, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Meditech EMR experience preferred
Requirements
- Current CCC-SLP certification required
- BLS certification required (AHA certifications only)
- Valid Kentucky SLP license or compact license required, if applicable
- At least 1 year of experience in the field required
- Experience with dysphagia management including bedside swallow evaluations and modified barium swallow studies
- FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow) experience preferred
- VitalStim experience preferred
- Experience with trach/vent patients preferred
- Experience with augmentative communication and adaptive equipment preferred
- Flu vaccination required with no exemptions for travelers
Additional Information
- Perform patient assessments, evaluations, and reassessments
- Conduct dysphagia management including bedside swallow evaluations and compensatory strategies
- Perform and interpret FEES and modified barium swallow studies as applicable
- Utilize adaptive equipment such as communication boards, memory aids, and Passy Muir valves
- Provide patient and family education
- Treat conditions including CVA, TBI, dysarthria, dysphagia, and degenerative diseases
- First-time travelers considered with 3+ years of experience in the field
- Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved prior to confirmation
- Candidates must live outside a 65-mile radius of the facility as local travelers are not accepted
