Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a compact or OH RN license and prior PCU experience.
Details
- Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focused on lower acuity cardiac patients
- Patient ratio of 1:3-4
- 3x12-hour Day or Night shift schedule, 36 hours per week
- Schedule includes weekdays and some weekends
- Rotating holiday coverage required
- Floating required to units of similar or lower acuity within the organization as needed
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active compact or OH RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Cardiac experience preferred
- Strong skills in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and conscious sedation required
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
- Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
- Proficiency in isolation precautions/PPE, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second from a Charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)
Additional Information
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a lower acuity cardiac unit
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, administer medications, and collaborate with the healthcare team
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict credentialing timelines
