Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a critical access hospital, requiring 2+ years experience and RRT or CRT certification, to cover night shifts across all inpatient departments.

Details

  • Acute care setting at a critical access hospital covering the entire facility including FBC, ER, Medical-Surgical, and CCU
  • Patient population includes all ages, with the Family Birth Center delivering approximately 35 babies per month
  • 5-bed CCU averaging 5-7 ventilator days per month
  • Uses MEDITECH EMR
  • Equipment includes Draeger ventilators, V60 for BiPAP, ResMed for CPAP, and Vapotherm for high flow
  • Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Variable weekend requirement to cover shift holes, FMLA, and PTO
  • Holiday coverage required
  • No call or standby call requirement
  • No floating required
  • Often works as the sole RT in-house during shifts

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • RRT or CRT certification accepted as long as requirements are met
  • Active BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
  • Oregon RT license required if applicable
  • Skilled in bubble CPAP, ABG collection, and ventilator/BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Able to perform breathing treatments and EKGs
  • Assists with intubation only, not required to intubate independently
  • Must be able to work independently with strong prioritization and teamwork skills
  • Must be able to walk long distances quickly, potentially 6-8 miles per shift
  • Responsible for daily shift checks and billing of procedures performed

Additional Information

  • Duties include managing ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and bubble CPAP for newborns, administering breathing treatments, performing EKGs and ABGs
  • Department has been short-staffed by two RTs, resulting in reduced outpatient services to prioritize 24/7 inpatient coverage
  • Department-specific orientation consists of 3-6 shifts
  • Scrub color required is royal blue
  • Hospitalist is on-site to support clinical care
