Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level III NICU role requiring 2+ years of NICU experience and a Washington RRT license in hand.
Details
- Work in a Level III NICU at a regional medical center that also serves as a Level II regional trauma center
- Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients with high acuity needs
- Patient ratios vary based on hospital acuity
- Night shift (3x12, 19:00-07:00) or Day shift (3x12, 07:00-19:00) available
- Weekend work required every other weekend per CBA
- Floating between departments within the facility required; must be flexible
- No on-call requirements
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active Washington state RRT license required in hand at time of submission (license required if applicable)
- Minimum 2 years of experience required, specifically in a Level III or IV NICU
- Experience working autonomously within a Level 3 NICU and skill to function in a Level 2 regional trauma center setting
- Epic charting system experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, and RRT (CRT accepted in some cases)
- Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
- Experience with high frequency jet ventilator, oscillating ventilator, and pressure/volume ventilator preferred
- Experience with direct neonatal intubation and umbilical blood gases preferred
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years
Additional Information
- Deliver respiratory care including ventilator management, airway management, suctioning, and pulmonary hygiene for neonatal and pediatric patients
- Skills include ABG drawing and interpretation, intubation/extubation assistance, tracheostomy care, and medication administration including nitric oxide
- Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, aspiration, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and provide bubble CPAP, CPAP/BiPAP, and oxygen therapy as needed
- All staff, including full-time employees, are considered variable and shift assignments are typically confirmed one to two weeks in advance
- Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All time-off requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower bill rate
- Former employees of this healthcare system may return after a 3-month waiting period, provided they are not applying within 50 miles of the facility
