Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring NM or compact RN licensure and prior Level II trauma experience.
Details
- Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma, teaching hospital with 554 staffed beds
- Approximately 60%-80% of ED patients are admitted, with many rooms designated as ED Holding
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
- 36 or 48 hour contracts available, with 48 hours reserved for travelers with both Level 1 trauma and travel experience
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Scheduled for weekends as needed (Saturday/Sunday days, Friday-Sunday nights)
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to Adult PCUs expected based on staffing needs, with optional floating to Peds ED and potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma
Requirements
- Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, may pend at time of submission
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (TNCC must be obtained before submission)
- RQI certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required (1.5 years may be considered)
- Level II trauma experience required, Level I trauma experience strongly preferred
- Travel experience strongly preferred, though candidates with 2+ years of Level I trauma experience may be considered
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation/management required
- Trauma/resuscitation experience required
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care including medication administration via IV, following the seven medication rights, and documenting/communicating clinical findings
- Currently seeing an increased number of admit holds
- Must work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles (Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, NYE & NYD)
- COVID vaccine is optional, but candidates must upload vaccination series or a declination form
- Scrub color is black, not facility-provided
- No parking fee
- Facility may call off shifts up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
- Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require approval, with no RTO during the first or last 7 days of the contract
- Not open to accommodating block schedules
- No local candidates accepted within a 100-mile radius
- Candidates must provide a non-local driver's license
- Pending licenses accepted
