Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med Surg RN for a day shift position requiring a CO or compact RN license, prior travel experience, and Cerner EMR proficiency.

Details

• Hospital-based Med Surg unit providing observation and/or inpatient care
• Day shift schedule of 0615-1845, 3 days per week (12-hour shifts)
• 6-week assignment length
• Uses Cerner EHR/EMR for documentation
• Utilizes Care Compass to organize and document assessments, care tasks, procedures, and patient education
• Operates infusion pumps and administers IV therapy, oxygen therapy, and blood products
• Requires knowledge of cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation

Requirements

• Active CO or compact RN license required, or ability to obtain licensure
• Minimum of 5 years Med Surg or Emergency Room experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Graduate of an accredited RN program
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• Current ACLS certification required, or completion within 3 months of start
• Current PALS certification required, or completion within 3 months of start
• Cerner EHR/EMR experience required
• Basic computer skills and electronic health record experience required

Additional Information

• Performs comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, nursing interventions, reassessments, and evaluation of care
• Monitors patients for changes in condition and reports abnormal findings to providers
• Administers medications and treatments accurately and in a timely manner
• Provides patient and family education on disease process, treatment plans, medications, pain management, wound care, discharge planning, and follow-up care
• Uses SBAR format for care transfers
• Follows infection prevention practices, universal precautions, and National Patient Safety Goals
• Collaborates with providers, staff, and other departments to support interdisciplinary care
• Serves as a mentor to other nursing staff and supports continuous learning
• Work performed in a hospital setting with exposure to work stress, environmental stress, and moderate noise
• Physical demands include heavy work such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and assisting with patient movement and positioning
• Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, communicable disease, radiation, chemicals, and hazardous materials
