Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring BLS, a minimum of 2 years' experience, and EPIC charting experience.

• 36-bed telemetry/surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• 13-week assignment length
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
• Local candidates accepted at the same base rate

Requirements

• Active VA RN license in hand at time of consideration, or proof of compact license
• Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications must be through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Specialty experience within the last year required
• EPIC charting experience required
• NIH and stroke education required
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, peripheral line care, oxygen administration, oral suctioning, non-invasive airway management, colostomy/ileostomy care, CVA care, telemetry monitoring, and administration of heparin, insulin, and PCA medications
• Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a Med/Surg Tele patient population including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Responsible for isolation precautions and appropriate PPE use
• Prior permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months before being eligible for a travel assignment
• Candidates may not work Riverside travel assignments and Riverside per diem contracts simultaneously and must choose one
• RTO requests should be minimal, ideally none during the assignment and no more than 7 days total, with all requests submitted at time of initial submission
• No additional RTO requests will be approved after an offer has been extended
• Travel experience is not required, making this role open to first-time travelers
