Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring a KS or compact license and BLS certification in hand
Details
- >Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
- Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- 4 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
- 13-week assignment length
- Floating required to like units within scope as needed
- Epic charting system experience preferred
Requirements
- Active KS or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Experience with 1:5 patient ratios required
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
- Wound care and wound vac experience
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response protocols
- Experience with orthopedic and total joint replacement patients preferred
- Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across a variety of Med/Surg, neurological, orthopedic, and surgical patient populations
- Support cardiac monitoring and emergency response including rapid response and code team activation
- Receive brief orientation when floating to unit
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
- Former staff members must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of requested time off will be auto-approved, and no time off is permitted during the first week of orientation
