Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring a KS or compact license and BLS certification in hand

Details

>Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
Patient ratio of 1:5
4 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
13-week assignment length
Floating required to like units within scope as needed
Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

Active KS or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
BLS certification required in hand at time of consideration
Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
Experience with 1:5 patient ratios required
Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management
Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
Wound care and wound vac experience
Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response protocols
Experience with orthopedic and total joint replacement patients preferred
Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required

Additional Information

Provide direct patient care across a variety of Med/Surg, neurological, orthopedic, and surgical patient populations
Support cardiac monitoring and emergency response including rapid response and code team activation
Receive brief orientation when floating to unit
First-time travelers will be considered for this position
Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
Former staff members must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
No more than 3 days of requested time off will be auto-approved, and no time off is permitted during the first week of orientation
