Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring 2 years of PCU experience and the flexibility to float across multiple facility locations.

Details

  • Float role within the PCU/IMU unit across multiple hospital campuses
  • Patient population includes general medicine, surgical, neuro, oncology, cardiac, and orthopedic cases
  • Unit ratios are IMU 1:3, Tele 1:4, and MS 1:5
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:00
  • RN must be willing to work across four float pool locations during the contract
  • May float to EDIP (Emergency Department Inpatient Overflow) within the ER
  • May be required to float down to Med-Surg based on census
  • 4-week schedules provided two weeks in advance with no blocked or self-scheduling
  • RN receives a call 2 hours before each shift confirming the facility assignment
  • Documentation systems used include EPIC and Pyxis
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holiday periods: Christmas Eve/Day, Thanksgiving Day/After, and New Year's Eve/Day

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the specialty area within the past 2 years for specialized unit placement
  • Current ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
  • IV start, Tele, Phlebotomy, and A-line experience required
  • Must pass EKG exam (up to 3 attempts)
  • Two manager/supervisory references required, including at least one from the specific unit within the past year

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Candidates must not have been employed by the facility within the past year to return as a traveler
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Candidates may float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals based on census and unit needs
  • A new unit may become active during the contract requiring cardiology and neuro skills, which could result in primary reassignment
  • License or background check issues must be disclosed prior to consideration for HR approval
  • No RTO permitted during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
  • Non-billable orientation and annual training modules (up to 8 hours) are included as part of scheduled hours
