Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring 2 years of experience and CT compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center
• Med/Surg and Telemetry patient population including orthopedic cases
• Average patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• Uses Epic charting system
• Royal blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required prior to start date
• Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience managing renal failure, CBI, and pre/post hemodialysis care
• Experience with CVA, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury care
• Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications
• 1 professional reference required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required (religious/medical exemptions only)

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing care in a large academic Level I Trauma Center setting
• Participate in bowel obstruction, colostomy/ileostomy, and feeding tube management as needed
• Support rapid response and code team activations
• Manage IV insulin protocols and endocrine/metabolic patient needs
• Must not reside within 75 miles of the hospital to be eligible for travel rate
• Travelers must be gone at least 2 years to return as a traveler if previously employed on staff
• Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
