Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 1+ years of experience across NICU, adult ICU, ED, and floor units for a night shift assignment at a community hospital.

• Community hospital setting covering NICU, adult critical care, Emergency Department, and general floor respiratory therapy
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

• RRT certification required (CRTs not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in NICU, adult ICU, ED, and floor respiratory therapy
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS, RRT
• License required if applicable
• Experience with ventilator management, including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Skilled in airway management including intubation/extubation assist, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with high-risk delivery assistance and neonatal/pediatric equipment such as CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BIPAP
• Proficient in interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs) and basic EKG
• Experience administering medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
• First-time travelers will be considered

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care across multiple critical care and general care settings including NICU, adult ICU, ED, and medical-surgical floors
• Perform high-risk delivery assistance and neonatal/pediatric respiratory procedures
• Manage airway devices, ventilators, and oxygen therapy including high flow nasal cannula
• Administer a range of respiratory medications and treatments
• Assist with bronchoscopy and specimen collection as needed
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, must be finalized at time of submission
• No RTO requests permitted during orientation week or after offer/onsite
• If one or two major holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested
• If three major holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Shift and contract length are firm with no alternate schedule requests permitted
• Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
• Candidates with prior employment at this health system must have been away for one full year before returning as a traveler
