Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2+ years of busy med/surg tele unit experience and an active MA RN license.
Details
- Work in the MS/Tele unit of a hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:6
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
- No call requirements
- No floating requirements
- Uses Omnicell medication management system and Meditech Expanse charting system
Requirements
- Active MA RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications: ACLS (AHA required)
- Preferred certifications: CPI, NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a busy med/surg unit with telemetry (without tele techs) required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Meditech charting system experience required
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and port accessing/management
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team utilization required
- Respiratory care skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
- Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience required
- IV insulin protocol experience required
- No first-time travelers will be considered for this position
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a med/surg telemetry unit including monitoring, medication administration, and wound care
- Unit orientation is 16 hours, consisting of either two 8-hour shifts or two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor
- Any color scrubs are permitted
- Local candidates accepted at the same travel rate
- Must reside within a 30-mile radius of the facility
- Time off requests should be kept to a minimum, with none preferred during the first two weeks of the assignment or for full calendar weeks during the assignment
- Any time off requests must be approved and documented prior to the start of the assignment
- Some holiday coverage is expected
- Floating may occur in rotation with staff, in accordance with facility floating policies and clinical experience
