Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Pre/Post Op RN for a Level I Trauma Center, requiring ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 10-bed Pediatric PeriAnesthesia Unit with an additional 4-bed Pediatric Surgical Observation Unit (PSOU)
  • PSOU provides specialized postoperative care for pediatric patients requiring overnight observation or extended recovery up to 23 hours following surgery
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
  • 13-week contract assignment
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license required, pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Pediatric pre/post-op and PACU skills including airway assessment, IV therapy, and pain management preferred
  • Experience with pre/post-operative care including discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and 12-lead EKG preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care to pediatric surgical patients
  • Manage pediatric patients undergoing ENT, general, and orthopedic surgical procedures
  • Perform circulation checks, pain assessment, and isolation precautions as part of patient care
  • Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Any pre-start vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to request an appropriate start date
  • Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
  • External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
