Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and Epic charting proficiency at a teaching hospital.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital environment
• Facility delivers 200-300+ births per month
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM totaling 36 hours per week
• May be required to float
• Unit handles high risk antepartum, postpartum care, and labor and delivery management including C-section circulation and recovery
• Involves fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement, and spiral electrode placement
• Includes administration of Magnesium Sulfate therapy and Pitocin

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced (NCC C-EFM acceptable in lieu of AWHONN Advanced)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, use of infusion pumps and drips
• Experience with cervical cerclage and tubal ligation procedures preferred
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN or higher; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care including neonatal care in the delivery room, APGAR scoring, and cord sample collection
• Support breastfeeding and lactation, perform episiotomy and incisional care, and manage foley catheters
• Care for patients experiencing Cesarean sections, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy induced hypertension
• Perform triage of obstetrical patients and conduct NSTs, reflex checks, and sterile vaginal exams
• Works within a teaching hospital environment
• Previous travel experience preferred but first-time travelers may be considered
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for assignment consideration after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for traveler positions
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance deadlines
