Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PICU position requiring 5 years of PICU experience and CA RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a teaching hospital
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Uses Epic charting system
- Ability to float to other UCSF facilities as needed, within a 75+ mile radius
- May be reassigned to a different department, unit, or facility if qualified
Requirements
- Active CA RN license in hand required
- BSN required
- Current certifications: BLS and PALS
- Minimum 5 years of PICU experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Pediatric CVICU experience preferred
- 2 references from most recent employer required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients in the PICU
- Skills include respiratory management (ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation), cardiovascular monitoring (hemodynamic monitoring, post cardiac surgery care), neurologic care (ICP monitoring, post neurosurgery care), and renal/GU care (CRRT, urinary catheter management)
- Additional responsibilities include IV therapy, central line care, medication administration including vasopressors and antiarrhythmics, and pediatric dosage calculations
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
- Any previous employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed with full employment history for rehire eligibility review
- Travel pairs are permitted but generally will not be placed on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager at the time of offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract and no RTO permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
