Description
American Traveler is hiring a Occupational Therapist for a 13-week travel assignment in an acute care setting, requiring New Mexico state licensure and BLS certification.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting within the Physical Medicine Therapy - Occupational department
- Day shift schedule from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- 13-week assignment length
- Full-time position
- Weekend coverage required
Requirements
- Current New Mexico state Occupational Therapy license required (license required if applicable)
- BLS certification from AHA required
- Doctorate, Masters, or Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy required
- One year of Occupational Therapy experience preferred
- Acute care setting experience required
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and organizational skills required
- Demonstrated accountability and skills in assessment, evaluation, decision-making, and time management
Additional Information
- Assess and treat patients with illness, injury, developmental, or psychological impairments impacting Activities of Daily Living
- Perform evaluations including chart review and objective measurements relative to diagnosis and condition
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Administer and direct treatments and modalities including ADL activities, splinting, ROM, endurance building, strengthening exercises, cognitive retraining, and coordination/dexterity training
- Apply or supervise therapeutic modalities such as hot moist packs, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, paraffin, soft tissue mobilization, balance training, and functional mobility training
- Maintain ongoing communication with referring physicians regarding patient progress and recommend treatment changes as needed
- Ensure equipment safety and educate patients and families on equipment use and treatment procedures
