Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position on night shift, requiring travel experience and Louisiana or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit with community hospital setting
- Assignment split approximately 80% Labor & Delivery and 20% Mother/Baby/Postpartum
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Weekend rotation/coverage required, details discussed during interview
- Floating within the hospital required as needed
- Uses Paragon charting system with planned transition to Epic by 2028
Requirements
- Active LA state or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required
- Recent travel nursing experience required
- Postpartum experience required
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and FHM
- Community hospital experience required
- Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk delivery, and postpartum care required
- One professional reference required
- Candidates must disclose any license disciplinary actions at time of consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care across labor, delivery, and postpartum stages, including antepartum and newborn care
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and various obstetric emergencies such as hemorrhage and pre-eclampsia
- Support breastfeeding and lactation, and provide discharge teaching to new parents
- Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives as needed
- Orientation includes virtual and on-site components, with additional EMR training on day three
- Minimal RTO requests preferred, especially around holidays
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Former employees must have been separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers with required experience may be considered
