Description
American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a night shift travel position requiring KY or Compact RN licensure, NIHSS certification, and prior travel experience.
Details
- Neuro ICU unit within a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
- 13-week assignment length
- May float to stepdown unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
- Meditech charting experience preferred but not required
Requirements
- Active KY or Compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
- At least 9 months of travel nursing experience required
- AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- NIHSS certification must be current and obtained within 2 years of start date
- Stroke signs/symptoms competency required (e.g. BE-FAST)
- Bedside dysphagia screening competency required
- IV-tPA administration and post-tPA monitoring competency required
- Minimum 1 year experience in a certified stroke center critical care unit preferred
- CRRT experience highly preferred
- Familiarity with current stroke guidelines and performance measures for acute ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to neurological ICU patients, including stroke, craniotomy, and neurosurgery cases
- Skills utilized may include EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and management of traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury patients
- Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC) preferred
- Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia management and FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring preferred
- Must reside outside a 65-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate; local candidates will be considered at a lower rate
- Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved as part of the application process
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Candidates with open or pending background or license issues will not be accepted
