Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a Level I/II Trauma hospital, offering day and evening shifts.
Details
- Work within the Respiratory Therapy/Neuro Diagnostics unit at a Level I and Level II Trauma hospital
- Treats adult, pediatric, and neonatal patient populations including NICU and Pediatric Critical Care
- 76 hours per pay period using a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts
- Day shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Evening shift schedule of 5x8-hour shifts from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM
- Works every third weekend with a 12-hour shift, plus 8-hour evening shifts during the week
- Uses Epic charting system
- Performs neonatal transports, intubation assist, and ventilator management
- Utilizes equipment such as Bubble CPAP, Oscillating Ventilator, and Pressure/Volume Ventilator
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- NICU/Pediatric RRT experience preferred
- Level I and Level II Trauma hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Active RRT license required if applicable, MN license accepted pending must be obtained by start date
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS, RRT (NBRC)
- Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and high frequency oscillator
- Experience with arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
- Experience in airway management including intubation assist and extubation
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care across adult critical care, emergency department, and pediatric/neonatal settings
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports
- Manage patients with conditions such as ARDS, cystic fibrosis, RSV, and respiratory distress syndrome
- Administer a wide range of respiratory medications and treatments including nebulizer therapy and inhaled medications
- Perform chest physiotherapy and tracheostomy care/management
- Scrub color required is dove gray
- Required to work holidays as needed by the facility
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Does not accept local candidates, travelers must live 25+ miles from the facility
- Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 9 months before returning as a traveler
- Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
- All RTO requests must be disclosed and approved at the time of submission
- Required to complete lab work within 48 hours of contract signing
- Minnesota state fingerprinting requirement, to be completed in person in Minnesota on the Monday prior to the scheduled start date

Lack of transporters, especially at night..there were none, but we had so many CNA’s to help, rotating schedules. Nights and days in the same week.
