Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 3 years of experience and dual Kansas/Missouri or compact licensure for cross-facility floating.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with 74 staffed beds in a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit
  • Cares for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and mother/baby couplet patients
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:3
  • Facility performs fewer than 100 births per month
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:45am to 7:15pm
  • Weekend rotation requiring 4-6 weekend shifts (Sat/Sun) plus 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule
  • On-call requirement of 2 mandatory shifts per 6-week schedule
  • May be required to float within scope between departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • Full couplet care required
  • Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
  • Epic EMR required

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Missouri or compact currently in hand
  • Both Kansas and Missouri licensure (or compact) required in hand at time of consideration due to potential floating between facilities
  • Current certifications: BLS, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
  • 2 years of recent in-specialty experience required, including a full year within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Extensive L&D skill set required including IV therapy, vaginal and C-section delivery support, fetal monitoring, high-risk obstetric medication administration, and newborn/postpartum care
  • Two professional references required, including one supervisor-level and one charge RN, both from within the past year
  • Travel RN experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive L&D nursing care including labor management, C-section circulation and recovery, antepartum testing, and postpartum couplet care
  • Special unit procedures include vaginal births, C-sections, external cephalic version, antenatal testing (NSTs, BPP by radiology), and post-op GYN care
  • Navy scrubs provided by facility
  • Holiday coverage required for 1 major holiday (Thanksgiving or Christmas) and 1-2 minor holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day)
  • Free parking available
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Maximum of 2 RTO requests allowed, finalized at time of consideration with no additional requests after offer
  • Previous BJC or Saint Luke's permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Staff with prior travel tenure require an 18-month assignment history with a 3-month break in service
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
