Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced IMCU/Step Down RN for a day shift assignment requiring higher-acuity patient care experience and an active OR RN license.
Details
- >[ ] Work in the Step Down/IMCU unit of a short-term acute care teaching hospital
- Care for higher-acuity patients including trach and ventilator patients, complex cardiac and respiratory patients
- Patient ratios of 1:3 and 1:4
- Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required between units and potentially to sister facilities based on skill set
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active RN license (OR license required, may be pending at time of submission)
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
- IMCU/Step Down or Telemetry experience required, not Telemetry-only background
- Experience with critical care drips/titrated infusions, central and peripheral line care, and tracheostomy care/management required
- Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias required
- Titration of cardiac and insulin drips preferred
- Must have a personal vehicle for this assignment
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to intermediate/step-down level patients with complex cardiac and respiratory conditions
- May be required to float to sister facilities in the region based on staffing needs and skill set
- Scrub color is any color for general units; OR/Cath Lab scrubs are provided by the facility
- No parking fees at this facility
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Up to 6 total days or 3 consecutive days of RTO may be auto-approved; additional requests may delay offer
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff at this health system must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- Local candidates may be accepted at a lower bill rate
- A 50-mile radius rule applies for travel pay rate eligibility
