Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Medical Surgical RN for a day shift position at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital requiring an active IL license and minimum 2 years' experience.
Details
- Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospital
- Average daily census of 21 patients with a 1:7 patient ratio
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 0645-1915
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license required or in application process with an ETA to obtain
- Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, and PICC line management
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE required
- Preferred skills include starting and maintaining IVs, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, heparin and PCA administration, wound care/wound vac, nasal cannula, telemetry monitoring, and rapid response/code team experience
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Deliver medical surgical nursing care within a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility
- Any solid color scrubs permitted
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
- Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
