Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby/Postpartum position requiring a CA RN license, BLS, NRP, and 2 years of relevant experience.
Details
- Work in the Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Postpartum unit of an acute care hospital
- Care for postpartum and newborn patients, including vaginal delivery and cesarean section patients
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
- Uses Epic EMR
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Floating between facilities within the state may be required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant Mother-Baby/Postpartum nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in newborn assessment, phototherapy, thermoregulation, and care of newborns with hypoglycemia
- Skilled in postpartum care including bladder assessment/Foley catheter insertion, breastfeeding instructions, episiotomy/incision care, and fundus/lochia/perineum care
- Experience managing pain including post-epidural management, opioids, and use of IV PCA
- Experience caring for patients with postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- LA fire card completed within the last 30 days required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive postpartum and newborn care, including discharge teaching to parents and infant identification
- Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
- Local candidates accepted, though those living under 50 miles from the facility are considered local and may receive a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates must disclose any license or background check issues upfront prior to submission
- Candidates must indicate any prior work history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles
