Description

American Traveler is hiring an Ultrasound Technologist - General with 2+ years of experience and ARDMS AB/RVT certification for a night shift assignment at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center.

Details

  • Work in a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center setting
  • Patient population includes inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients
  • Night shift schedule, Sunday-Thursday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM (5x8 hours)
  • May float to sister facilities as needed
  • Uses Philips ultrasound equipment and PACS system
  • Epic charting system preferred
  • No on-call or weekend requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in ultrasound/sonography required
  • ARDMS AB and RVT certifications required; ARDMS OB preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • License required if applicable
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • Experience with Philips ultrasound equipment required
  • Skills in general ultrasound including abdominal aorta, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, spleen, appendix, and breast imaging
  • OB/GYN experience across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimester scans including fetal anatomical survey
  • Vascular studies experience including carotid, lower extremity arterial/venous, and Doppler studies
  • Experience with small parts imaging including thyroid, testicles/scrotum, and superficial masses
  • Renal/pelvis imaging skills including bladder, ovaries, uterus, and prostate
  • Experience with ultrasound guided biopsy/fine needle aspiration procedures
  • Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Perform outpatient ultrasound studies and biopsies
  • Neonatal imaging experience preferred
  • Pediatric and PICU experience preferred
  • Teal scrub tops and bottoms required
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious/medical exemptions only
  • RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
  • Former staff must be separated from the facility for 2 years before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates are not accepted within 75 miles of the hospital
  • One reference required for consideration
  • Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities

Always given very easy assignments. Their MICU is combined with the MICU stepdown so travelers were put in stepdown once a week but it’s a 1:3 ratio there and assignments were fair

Very large unit so hard to get to know everyone/find people to help sometimes
