Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring 2 years of experience, BLS and PALS certification, and floating between Pre-Op and PACU.
Details
- Work in the PACU unit of a hospital setting
- Provide Pre-Op care for both inpatients and outpatients as well as Phase II Recovery through discharge home
- Patient population includes general surgery cases such as lap chole, appendectomy, bowel resection, BKA/AKA, vascular procedures, plastics, mandibular surgery, eye procedures, GYN, dental, thoracic (no open hearts), and podiatry (no ortho)
- Occasionally provide pre-op care for cath lab vascular procedures and endoscopy
- Approximately 3-4% pediatric patient population, though travelers are not assigned to peds
- Additional specialties include ENT, OB-GYN, Robotic, Transplant, and Vascular
- Utilizes breathing treatments and CPAP/BiPAP equipment
- Day shift schedule (4x10 hours), 11:30am-10:00pm
- Float required between Pre-Op and PACU
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
- Required certifications: BLS and PALS
- ACLS certification also required
- Conscious sedation and IV start skills required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care from pre-op assessment through Phase II recovery and discharge
- Floating required between Pre-Op and PACU areas
- Travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state, and refusal may impact assignment
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
- First-time travelers may be considered
