Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 1 year of experience and comfort working with a forensic/prison patient population.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a hospital environment
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
• 16-week contract length
• Float required to other MS/Tele units, including forensics and inpatient units
• Must be comfortable working with the prison population
• No on-call responsibilities due to strict no-call policy
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• IV insulin protocol management
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization and post cardiac angiogram care

Requirements

• Active TN state RN license or compact multi-state license required
• Current Nursys report required with active license; no pending licenses accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI (MAB accepted in lieu of CPI)
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Skilled in starting and maintaining peripheral IVs
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE protocols

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Contracts starting in September will not have RTO approved for Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day
• Nurses will be assigned to a holiday group and expected to work 3 of the 6 listed holidays, with schedule swaps possible among peers
• Contracts starting in September should extend into the new year to ensure holiday coverage
• Local and first-time travelers are accepted at the same rate
• Two professional references required for consideration
