Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring MICU and/or SICU experience and Trauma Level I hospital experience.
Details
- Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) of a Trauma Level I hospital
- Care for complex, high acuity medical, trauma, neuro, and surgical ICU patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
- Block scheduling for day/night shifts may be considered
- Floating primarily within the Critical Care Division, with additional floating to other units as census needs require
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- Cerner charting system experience preferred
Requirements
- Active RN license (MT state license or compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; PALS preferred
- Minimum 1+ year of experience in specialty required
- MICU and/or SICU experience required; float pool-only experience does not meet position requirements
- This is not an entry-level or novice RN position
- Trauma Level I hospital experience required; Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Proficiency in critical care skills including arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, ventilator management, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
- References required for consideration
- Reside within 75-mile radius; local candidates not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide independent, competent care for high acuity ICU patients with complex medical, trauma, neuro, and surgical needs
- Skilled care areas include respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, gastrointestinal, and renal system management
- Experience with CRRT/CVVHD, EVD/ICP monitoring, and management of ventilated or fresh tracheostomy patients is valued
- Floating outside the hospital or to affiliate hospitals only occurs if agreed upon during interview or offer
- Case-by-case approval available for candidates with license or background check history
- Former permanent employees must have a 2-year break in service before eligibility
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
