Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring MICU and/or SICU background and Trauma Level I experience.

Details

• Work in the SICU of a Level I Trauma hospital
• Cares for high acuity medical, trauma, neuro, and surgical ICU patients
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30), block scheduling for day/night shifts may be considered
• Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
• Floats primarily within the Critical Care Division, with occasional floating to other units as census requires
• Cerner charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (MT or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; PALS preferred
• Minimum 1+ year of specialty ICU experience required (MICU and/or SICU)
• Float pool-only ICU experience does not meet the requirements for this role
• Trauma Level I hospital experience required; Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Proficiency in critical care skills including arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, ventilator management, CRRT/CVVHD, IABP, EVD/ICP monitoring, and titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
• References required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide independent, competent nursing care to complex, high acuity ICU patients across medical, surgical, neuro, and trauma populations
• Support includes collaboration within a Critical Care Division team structure
• No floating to affiliate hospitals unless otherwise agreed upon during interview or offer
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius to qualify for travel rate; local candidates not accepted
• Former employees must have a 2-year break in service before returning
• RTO must be submitted at time of application
• Available start date required at time of submission
• Background checks with license or background hits considered on a case-by-case basis
• Not a novice-level ICU position; travel experience not required but strong critical care background is essential
