Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN for a night shift position at a teaching hospital requiring an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a hospital environment
• 13-week assignment on night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
• Schedule includes weekdays and some weekends
• Uses EPIC EMR for charting
• Float to lower acuity units as needed
• Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, neurological/psychiatric, and substance withdrawal cases

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience with strong acute care background
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and IV certification
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), oxygen administration, and nasal cannula
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Rapid Response/Code team protocols
• Experience with peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second from a Charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

• Start and manage IVs, administer medications safely, and monitor vitals and patient responses
• Educate patients on treatments and self-care while collaborating with the care team on patient plans
• Follow hospital policies and maintain patient safety, including isolation precautions and PPE use
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract
• Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible after booking
• Candidates at extreme distances will receive a fingerprinting packet by mail to complete urgently upon receipt
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location
