Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN for a night shift position at a teaching hospital requiring an active OH or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a hospital environment
- 13-week assignment on night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
- Schedule includes weekdays and some weekends
- Uses EPIC EMR for charting
- Float to lower acuity units as needed
- Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, neurological/psychiatric, and substance withdrawal cases
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience with strong acute care background
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and IV certification
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), oxygen administration, and nasal cannula
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Rapid Response/Code team protocols
- Experience with peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second from a Charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)
Additional Information
- Start and manage IVs, administer medications safely, and monitor vitals and patient responses
- Educate patients on treatments and self-care while collaborating with the care team on patient plans
- Follow hospital policies and maintain patient safety, including isolation precautions and PPE use
- Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract
- Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible after booking
- Candidates at extreme distances will receive a fingerprinting packet by mail to complete urgently upon receipt
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
