Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Telemetry position requiring an OH or compact RN license and at least 1 year of acute care experience.
Details
- Work in the MS/Tele unit of a teaching hospital
- Rotating day (3x12, 7:00-19:00) and night (3x12, 19:30-7:30) shifts
- Schedule includes weekdays and some weekends
- Patient population includes respiratory, cardiac, neurological/psychiatric, and substance withdrawal cases
- Uses EPIC EMR for charting
- Float to lower acuity units as needed
- 13-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required, in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and IV certifications required
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs, peripheral line care, and PICC line management
- Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), oxygen administration, and nasal cannula use
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second from a Charge RN or higher; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include starting and managing IVs, administering medications, monitoring vitals and patient responses, and educating patients on treatments and self-care
- Collaborate closely with the care team on patient plans and follow hospital policies to maintain patient safety
- PCU experience is not required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
- Required to complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
- RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
